The UK legal sector is a world leader in the provision of legal services and the UK market is the largest in Europe. With over 330,000 people working within the sector it is a major contributor to the economy and to our society.
It is a challenging time for law firms with geo-political and economic instability, weak demand in certain sectors, increased competition and cost pressures from clients. For in-house legal teams, macro-economic uncertainty and increased regulatory complexity have led to a greater emphasis on risk mitigation whilst fulfilling their primary role as a commercial partner to the business.
Against this backdrop the legal industry is undergoing significant transformation largely driven by advancements in technology. It is clear that legal tech, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative AI (GenAI), will continue to shape the industry. This is in addition to the move to home working, cyber security threats for customers and the firms themselves and a generational shift in attitudes to work, workplace culture and the environment.
Legalex is an important date in the calendar and brings together a wide range of expertise to support law firms and in house teams prosper in this changing world.
The General Counsel Horizon Summit is a must attend event built specifically for the senior leadership of in-house legal teams.
Companies once built in-house legal teams simply to provide legal advice, but the world of legal operations has changed forever and in-house teams are now expected to drive business objectives, define strategy, mitigate risk and support commercial outcomes all against a shifting and sometimes chaotic geopolitical landscape.
These changing expectations have dramatically increased workloads and in turn the appetite for technology based solutions to help with the workload. Company culture, ethics, safeguarding independence and regulatory complexity are all, also, pressing concerns for in-house teams. This summit will aim to address all of these issues and provide real world, actionable insight from world class experts.
Who Should Attend:
- General Counsel
- Chief Legal Officer
- Company Secretary
- Legal and Compliance Director
- Head of Legal
- Senior In-House Legal
